Freedom FAB Crawl

Saturday, July 4th 11am-6pm!

Celebrate Independence Day with downtown Morganton during the Freedom FAB Crawl (Food, Art & Brew) - a small business retail promotion.

Retailers, Restaurants, Breweries, and Art Studios will be open for your shopping pleasure from 11am to 6pm on Saturday, July 4th. A full list of participating businesses are included below.

Grab a chair or blanket and head to the Courthouse Square in downtown Morganton for a FREE concert under the stars. Food and beverage vendors will open at 6:00pm and the music plays from 7:00-10:00pm. The TGIF Concert Series runs every Friday in May, June and July (except July 3rd). We will see you on the square!

Third Thursday Art Crawl

"A Day at the Beach" - The calming sounds of the tide rolling along the shore, the cooing of the seagulls waiting for their next meal, the laughter of children playing tag with the waves, these are the moments that make up our memorable beach vacations. The Main Street Office and the Burke Arts Council wish to whisk you away to a different version of the beach, one located in the heart of downtown Morganton. The Third Thursday Art Crawl is your chance to escape to a day at the "beach".

The encouraging sounds of our community voices, the diverse artistic techniques of our cherished local artists on display, and the laughter of children playing tag on the square, these are some of the moments that make up our memorable Morganton life.

TGIF Concert: Melody Trucks Band

Melody Trucks Band (Blues-Rock Band) performs a wide genre variety but are most known for their fresh and unique interpretations of iconic songs. The group has performed on the stage with many music sensations. Welcome them to Morganton and to the TGIF Stage on July 17th. Grab a chair or blanket and head to the Courthouse Square in downtown Morganton for a FREE concert under the stars. Eagle Joe Leatherman (Southern Rock Group) is a Morganton native and known for his Southern Rock tunes. M.A.D.E. Competition

Friday and Saturday, September 11-12

The 2019 M.A.D.E. (Morganton Arts Design and Engineering) Competition brought together ten Burke County Middle and High School teams to compete in the live build Wind Turbine Challenge. The Historic Morganton Festival, Inc. along with Burke County Public Schools is proud to announce the 2020 M.A.D.E. Challenge and invite you to join. During Friday, September 11th and Saturday, September 12th; area Middle and High School students will compete in the “Rescue Robot Challenge”, an on site engineering and design challenge during the Morganton Festival in downtown Morganton, NC.

Virtual Sunrise Run 5K & 10K

September 12th - October 12th

Due to restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Historic Morganton Festival is on hold until September 10 and 11, 2021. However, we are excited to announce that the annual Sunrise Run on the Greenway is still on! The 2020 Sunrise Run on the Greenway is going VIRTUAL from September 12th to October 12th! Registration is now open for you to run your own race. You can register for a 5K or 10K anytime between now and October 12th. The virtual race will open on Saturday, September 12 (the original race date) and will end at 11:59pm on Monday, October 12. Run the 5K or 10K at any point during the month and then submit your times in your Run Sign Up profile. Run anywhere in town, state, or country! The original race routes will be included online for those interested in running the usual route.

Local businesses need our support now more than ever. In an effort to keep business local, each participant will receive a swag bag including t-shirt, finishers medal, and other surprises (to be announced later) from local Morganton businesses. When signing up please indicate if you'd like to pick up your swag bag in person OR if you would like it mailed to you (an additional mailing fee will be added). Swag bag pick ups and mailings will be available beginning October 12th.

Come to Downtown Morganton Friday, Oct. 30, and enjoy the annual Downtown Trick-or-Treating and Halloween Spooktacular! We'll have trick-or-treating at downtown businesses from 3-5pm and  hayrides, inflatables, games, and costume contests!

Winter Carnival

Join downtown Morganton on the Saturday before Thanksgiving for a holiday celebration for the entire family!

Activities like face painting, Snowman Bean Bag Toss, and Letters to Santa will be setup for everyone to enjoy. Enjoy a FREE relaxing Carriage Ride through town before heading to see SANTA! The jolly man will be hanging around waiting to hear what all of the GOOD little boys and girls are hoping for this holiday season. After seeing Santa, sit around the bonfire with your treats from Frosty's Diner!

Christmas Parade

Please join the Morganton Downtown Development Association as they present the Downtown Morganton Christmas Parade at 6:00pm on Tuesday, December 1st! Each year there are over 100 entries in the parade. This includes floats, marching bands as well as characters of all shapes and sizes to greet the younger viewers. The excitement of the parade and the Christmas season is contagious!
