Main Street Advisory Commission

The Main Street Advisory Commission shall review and make recommendations to the city council concerning the operation of the Main Street program which provides the comprehensive planning of downtown Morganton (or the special tax district) relating specifically to the organization, design, promotion and economic development in the downtown area.

Sec. 2-7191-ARTICLE Q. - MAIN STREET ADVISORY COMMISSION

The commission also provides insight and leadership for the implementation of the development and growth of downtown and through those efforts provide a conducive environment for business and cultural activities. When called upon by the council, the board shall investigate and report its findings and recommendations concerning specific matters and problems relating to the downtown and its use as a public resource.

Meetings

The Main Street Advisory Commission generally meets the first Wednesday of each month at 8:15 am in the Main Street Office conference room. No meetings in July, August and September.

Members

The Main Street Advisory Commission consists of of between nine and 21 members who are appointed by the Mayor to serve three-year terms.
